Amazing Computer with Photoshop Failing
I just got a brand new computer. My husband is an IT/AI guy and picked this out for me based on what he thought would give me the most power without breaking the bank. When I got it, I installed the newest version, but kept having issues so I rolled it back to 22.2 but I am still having problems. I'll try to give as much information as possible, but I'm not in IT, so I'm sorry if things aren't crystal clear and need follow up information.
Problems:
- Photoshop will crash when running plug-ins like Topaz.
- It will use almost my entire memory on my card when I have 32gbs of RAM and am not running other memory hogs like Chrome.
- I randomly get told by ACR that I need GPU Acceleration when opening cr2 files, even though it worked fine for my last set of images and I changed no settings.
- If I try to do more than a few batch edits at a time, Photoshop WILL crash and by "a few" I mean 5 cr2 files and 2-3 batch edits.
What I have:
- Windows 11, version 22h2
- Processor: AMD Rysen 5 5600 6-Core 3.5GHz
- 64-bit OS
- (Again) 32gbs of RAM
What we've done:
- Initially, I only had 16 gbs of RAM, so we doubled that.
- We have NVIDIA drivers and switched it to a studio driver.
- After batch editing a few pictures, I will save them as jpegs, close PS entirely and then edit the jpegs.
As it's busy season for me, I really need to figure out what's going on here because it's taking me entirely too long to edit sessions at this point.
