Append file extension not working

Latest PS version. "Append file extension" in prefernces is set to "Always" yet when I save an image the .jpg has to be typed in. Maybe its a Mac system issue?

Check finder preferences on your MAC and see if show file extension is enabled or not, that might be the culprit

Thanks for the tip, I checked "show all filename extensions" restarted but nothing changed in photoshop when I saved. Previously, when I went to "save" only the filname would be highlighted, not the extension, now when I save, everything is highlighted. Not a biggie but annoying.
