Apple Pen Lag on IPad in Photoshop

When I use the brush tool in photoshop, the line doesn't appear while I am drawing it, only after I pick up the pen. 

i am using a iPad Pro, newest version, and a 2nd Gen Apple Pencil. The Pencil works fully in a different drawing app. PS and the iPad are both fully updated. I've disconnected and reconnected the pencil, restarted the iPad, turned off smoothing on the brush tool, but the problem persists. Advice would be appreciated, thank you for your help.
