Apple Silicon Mac mini with 16GB RAM for 40gb of PSB file?

I wonder if I still need more than 32GB of RAM to run 40GB of PSB file? Or for those of you who has AS Mac mini, can you confirm it if it works fine?

32 or 40 GB makes little difference when the total scratch file pushes half a terabyte or more - and it will, if you have 40GB PSBs. RAM isn't critical, as long as you have a decent amount. The scratch disk is critical.

There is no such thing as "enough RAM" no matter how much you have. It's basically a fast access cache to the scratch disk's main memory.

It would work - provided you have a fast and large scratch disk, such as a 1TB NVMe. But you might also want to have other things going on the machine, things that don't have the efficient and capable memory management system of Photoshop. So 32 is fine.

The point is that 95% of the action will be on the scratch disk, whether you have 32 or 40.

You will need more RAM for the same job on M1, since there is no dedicated Video RAM. I haven't seen any discussion of the effect of losing RAM to the GPU.
