Is it possible to add layer styles to a layer group AND make those layers affect one another. For example, adding a drop shadow to three sepeate layers (shown on left) allows the shadow to cast on one another. But when the same effect is added to only a group, the shadow effect treats the layers in a group like a single layer (right). Surely this must be possible, but I've not found a way in the advanced blending options.

When you choose to apply the Layer Style to the Group it gets applied to the Group.
When you want to apply it to several Layers then do that.
What is the real issue?
Are applying the Layer Style to multiple Layers via »Copy Layer Style« and »Paste Layer Style« or via the Styles Panel not convenient enough?
