Question

Artifacts on the program screen // Photoshop 2017

I don't know what this is caused by - I use photoshop on multiple computers and on one and on the other always after some time start to appear noticeable errors in the display of the project - sometimes after 10 minutes - sometimes after 2 hours.

Both computers are of different ages and their graphics cards are more or less in a state of use and life but this does not prevent them from displaying such bugs from time to time.

Please try to disable the option to "Use Graphics Procesor" from Photoshop by going to Preferences, then Performance. Once done, quit & relaunch Photoshop to check if that helps.

If you're unable to access Preferences and PhotoShop crashes before that, please go to the location C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2021. Then rename the Sniffer.exe to Old.Sniffer.exe and try launching Photohsop again.

If it helps, you can check out the steps suggested here:  https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-gpu-graphics-card.html

If the issue persists, you can try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps described here:

Preferences in Photoshop (adobe.com)

Please backup your settings before resetting the preferences. You can check:

Migrate presets, actions, and settings (adobe.com)

Another try it to turning on the option »Deactivate Native Canvas« (Photoshop > Preferences > Technology Previews) and restarting Photoshop.

If this doesn't help we need more informations about your system.

Which operating system do you use?

Which version of Photoshop do you use?

Please post the exact version not only phrases like "recent", "latest" and so on.

Is your system up-to-date? Check if there any patches and updates are available, especially for the graphic driver.

My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 8 - PureRAW 6 - Topaz Photo AI

And I'm supposed to work on documents that require processing power on the CPU alone? Isn't the point of using a GRAPHIC PROCESSOR for graphics work?

How is this supposed to help me in later work?

> Windows 10 Version 1809 (OS Build 17763.379 - please don't tell me that I need the latest update, because on every version of windows this problem occurs - and the other thing is that the latest update spoils my computer and I can't get it to work ( I wrote to Microsoft - yes I am also waiting for information

> Adobe Photoshop Version: 2017.1.7 20190424.r.45 2019/04/24: 1206598 x64 - same here - I use this version because it is the most efficient for me. Newer versions are out of the question. I won't waste resources on options I don't use

> As for graphics - I use NVCleanInstall or snappy driver origin - but it doesn't matter - I have 3 computers - the same thing happens on each at some point - each runs on different versions of WINDOWS10™ and has different graphics cards and it happens every time. Even 10 years ago on my old computers I was able to observe the same problem.

I'll try the one option that was mentioned because disabling the use of the GPU is kind of a hopeless solution for me when it comes to using a graphics program

Hello, did you try to update your GPU drivers? That is the only fix you can have so far, as a 5 years old version will not receive updates... You are also missing 5 years of bug fixes (even if newer features can introduce new bugs) so it is difficult to troubleshoot the issue. https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/photoshop/kb/fixed-issues-history.html Do all files show the problem, or only with many artboards?

I do not remember the options in V2017.1.7, if it had legacy compositing, or other GPU features to help you troubleshoot.
