Aspect Ratio distorted when exporting gif

Hi,

I've imported the 9 second video I made into PS as video layers. Now when I try to export it as a gif (Save for Web Legacy) the aspect ratio is distorted every time. I tried changing the Canvas Size, but the aspect ratio is still distorted from the original when I look at the Image Size.

This all seems too difficult for the simple task of making a gif from a video.... I figure I gotta be doing something wrong...

(Forgive me for asking a n00b question here, but the Chat help feature is gone and the Adobe phone fellow said he'd email me an answer days ago... Pretty bummed at where the service has gone with this company.)

    Hi,

Had exactly the same problem with the gif having a squished video. The problem is that you have a size of 1440 x 810. You need to make it a standard size by converting the video another time to 1920 x 1080 or something that you like. This video you can convert to a gif without any problemens.

Try changing the video format (in Premiere or otherwise) I had the same problem with a video (exported QuickTIme NTSC DV 24p from Premiere) but when I tried the same video exported QuickTIme GoPro Cineform RGB 12-bit with alpha, everything was fine.

You say you made the video?

    What format?

    What resolution?

    Did it have square pixels?

Hope I am answering this correctly.

I've tried using both MOV and MP4 formats of the video in PS. Both are distorted.

Here is the info it gives on the MP4 format of the film:

I believe the pixels are rectangular, since the footage is HDV.
