Background Removal Tool - Change opacity?

So I'm trying to remove some harsh whites from between hair in this photo, but the background removal tool is too harsh when removing the whites, leading to noticable holes. The tolerance option isn't useful here because it only changes what it selects, not how harsly it removes the background. I want it to remove with, say, 50% opacity, so that the harsh white is gone but it will still blend well with a different colored background without showing huge holes in the hair. Is this possible?

Probably - but you would be better using layer masks to do this than the Background eraser as this is non-destructive.

You can also fine tune the image with far more control with this approach and use a much wider variety of tools to "erase" the background.

IT may be such that none of this is even necessary and some simple adjustment layers will help remove the perceived harshness..

Why don't you attach a screenshot of the problem/image so we can help you better with this?
