Background Save Causing Crash

Hello!

I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with Photoshop that I've never had before. Whenever I save a file, I experience an immediate crash of Photoshop. Obvously this is a huge issue because it meant that I couldn't save files. I managed to find a workaround which seems to involve background save. When I turn it off in Photoshop settings, no more crashing when saving. However, this significantly slows down my reotuching process since I have to wait 10 seconds or so every time I save (these are large .tiff photos) and I save often out of habit. I've attached a screenshot of the crash details for you tech savvy folks to pick though and I have the full crash log if needed here.

I am using the latest version of Photoshop CC (20.0.6) and no other Adobe CC apps have this issue for me.

Any help is appreciated, thank you!

So a bit of an update, the problem seems to be with PSDs. The crash does not occur at all when I'm saving or editing a tiff file.

Are you saving to a local drive or a network drive?

Hi, does the problem occur with a newly created file?

Posted this below but it seems to not be an issue when I save as a tiff and not a psd

Have you tried resetting your preferences. The preference file contains more than just the user settings and is saved each time Photoshop closes. If it becomes corrupt then strange bugs and behaviour can arise. I normally reset mine as an early step in looking for an issue, and it often resolves.
