Batch Removal of Backgrounds

Hello!

Hopefully somebody can help me!

I need to remove the background from numerous christmas trees and have a very tight deadline to do so. I want these images to come out well. I have tried running an action to 'Remove Background' and it did not do a perfect job of all the trees. Would anyone be able to suggest a method to batch remove the background from all of these images?

Could you provide a couple of the images (ideally the ones least fit to the task right away)?

What is the ultimate use-case? On white, on varying backgrounds, print, web, …?

Its going to be difficult or impossible to automate this, because you have a variety of source material. You can make masking easier with things like Levels and Color Range. I'd look for a way to increase contrast which makes subject separation easier.

I expect full automation for this task is unrealistic.

Which features did the Action »Remove Background« actually utilize?

There are 3rd party plugins available that might do a better job than default Photoshop operations (removebg for example).

But which ones of Photoshop’s functionalities have you tested yet? (Edit: Select > Subject, Object Selection Tool, …?)

Another option would be hiring Professional Clipping Services, which usually also seem to offer an »express«-option.
