Better Photoshop Scale Marker?

Does anyone have suggestions for creating a better scale marker in photoshop? The generic one sucks. I'd like something more of the format like the one below, but am not beholden to it.

Thought that re-writing the code for the inherent scale bar might be the easiest way to get something that looks more professional. Would be open to suggestions if you can think of a better avenue of approach?
