Bounding Box Issue with Text

I've updated to 22.4.2 and am having a bounding box issue with text.

I do have "Show Transform Controls" Selected. 

FOR TEXT ON A SINGLE LAYER- I used to be able to click text on a layer once and get a bounding box - now I have to double click.

FOR MULTIPLE PIECES OF TEXT ON DIFFERENT LAYERS - I used to be able to select them and have a bounding box - now selection of the multiple layers of text in the work area is difficult and when I do get them selected, there is no bounding box to be able to adjust them.

Is there a setting or something that I'm missing? Thanks.
