Brush and Layer Issues after June 2020 update

Hello,

This morning I started PS CC on my Mac (OS Catalina), and I got the 'verifying software' message.

I waited and after it opened I started working on my file as usual. I use a Wacom tablet with Photoshop. I could hardly get any work done because the problems I faced are on multiple levels. PS CC has gone nuts... it feels like it has been drugged! 😄

Here's what I've experienced. I've listed them down to see if anyone else has faced these crazy issues after an update:

1. Tapping the eye icon in the layers panel doesn't switch off the layer that was tapped. It switches off another layer.

2. Decreasing Opacity to zero in the layers panel doesn't make the layer disappear as it normally does. The layer still shows.

3. Using any brush creates square translucent pixelated patches around each stroke. (extremely frusrating!!) I haven't experienced this issue at all with brushes earlier.

4. Each brush stroke erases a bit of the layer under it. Again ruining my artwork and adding to my frustration!!

I have tried unplugging the Wacom and the software still behaves the same way, so I assume it is not a Wacom issue. I have tried rebooting several times and these issues appear each time. There aren't any settings that I've changed in PS for a while now.

Any solutions/help welcome.

Hi

Try going into the preference and disabling legacy compositing if it's enabled and restart Photoshop to see if it helps

Thanks Ged Traynor. This really helped solve the issue. Thank you so much. :))

However, why does this happen with the 'Legacy Compositing' selected? I'd like to know. I laways thought selecting that option is supposed to help the rendering process.

Thanks!

That's a question you'll need to ask Adobe.
