Brush in overlay

Hi Everybody,

I watched a tutorial on Youtube to sharpen my image. One step is to create an overlay. Then I have to brush the face to have a different amount of sharpness. 

But when I select my bruch and set the 'front colour' to black, on the video in de layer you see black appear on the overlay. In my case, nothing happens!! 

My hardness is on 0% like in the video. 

What can I do to make my brush work? Nothing happens when I brush on my picture.

Hi Sim,

 

Thank you so much for your response. I suddenly found out I had to turn something from the brush to 'Normal'. So it's not a problem anymore.
