brush leaves traces

Hello,

lately, I think since the latest photoshop update, my black brushes leave traces on layer masks.

Let me explain:

when I apply an overlay or I create a fill color layer for exemple, and I want to remove parts of those with a black brush, it leaves traces and doesn't remove it completely as if I was using a brush with a lower opacity.

In the attached file you can see a fill color layer with a black mask (blanding mode Multiply): with a white brush 100% opacity I drew a line, then switched to a black brush to remove it and it leaves a big stain arond it.

In the second exemple I applied an overlay (blending mode normal, but it's the same with all the modes) and when I remove it on a white mask with a black brush, I can still see the texture, as if there was a transparency or a lower opacity for the brush.

I'm on a Mac OS Ventura 13.2.1 and Photoshop 24.2.0

I'm going crazy, please help! 😅

Hi @inlivelycon hit "D" to confirm you are using 100% black and white when painting on a mask. This looks like you were painting with a dark gray, not completely black.
