Brush option Clear short cut (E instead of shift+alt+R)

With the most recent versions of photoshop one can use the Brush Tool as an eraser by pressing the

Tilde key ~ to erase and release to paint.

Some shortcuts in photoshop are hardwired into the application, meaning they are not user changeable like the shortcuts for selecting brush blending modes.
