Brush tool in Photoshop loading

There might be a simple solution to this problem, but now I feel like I have tried "everything", so I'm hoping someone can help me. Ok, so all of the sudden when i try to brush in a mask, it brushes fine. But when I release my pen the tool starts loading, and then afterwords it does not apply the brushstroke. I have tried to reset the tool, I have deleted large files of my mac and I have updated to the latest version of Photoshop. And yes, I have tried to restart my mac. Anyone who knows how I should solve this? This problem appeared all of the sudden one morning....

Much appreciated !

Is this happening with just the one brush preset?  The Brush Settings panel that Mike showed you, has everything turned off, which should be reflected in the Options bar.  If everything is unchecked, then it's a plain vanilla brush.

When you say 'the pen starts loading' do you mean it adds content to the canvas?  That suggests that Build-up is checked, and that the Airbrush icon is on in the Options bar, but if you say it does not then apply the stroke, that does not put me in mind of a brush setting, but more an error.  Resetting the brush tool would normally fix that.

It might help if you paste a screen shot of your entire workspace here, with the brush tool selected, and layers panel showing.

Thank you both!! I have gone over and checked all my settings, and they are the same as you mentioned. It happened just all of the sudden, so pretty sure I haven't checked of something ore adjusted anything without knowing. I brush with 30% opacity for this layer.

It does apply the brush, but after it has loaded for like 15 sec. See the next picture for what I mean by loading. My cursor ends up like this image (it has never happened before)

I have tried to reset all settings for brush and installed the updated Photoshop program, nothing changes...

HI Benedikte,

Could be a delay/corruption in your Adobe cloud account. Quit Photoshop and reset the OOBE as per step #5.

Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app doesn't open or shows a spinning progress wheel

Large soft brushes do slow down older computers. How much ram is in your mac laptop? Thinking not hardware issue, since your post suggests this used to work. Unless your hard drive has less than 10% free space. You could run disk Utility to check for bad blocks/permissions.

Can you tell us about  these apps , could be a conflict. I would stay away from  Apples new Mojave OS until Adobe sends out an update to address some of the issues we have been seeing. If you have a wacom try updating the driver.

Try to match these settings. All checks off and spacing to 1%.

Check your mode, opacity & flow
