Brushes setting reverting back when you switch between brushes

While working, I need to switch between 2 brushes. One is a hard round brush from Ps default brushes and the other is a crosshatch brush from Kyle's.
The cross hatch saves all my settings (size, mode, opacitiy, etc)....the hard round resets to the origina Ps size everysingle time I switch away from it - making me have to rest the size from 12 to 2, mode from multiply to normal, opacitiy from 16% to 100%.

Anyone else having trouble with brushes resetting themselves? This is getting really annoying and wasting a ton of time.

Edited to add:

In the past (before the latest update) My brush setting would remain with the brushes in this circled box...I would NOT have to actually save as a brand new altered brush....
