Bug: Can't resize some text boxes

I can't resize some text box layers. The layers are not locked, neither are their parent groups/folders. Sometimes the unresizable text box layers will only allow me to resize vertically (height) but not horizontally. When I try to resize in different directions, the text box layer just gets deselected.

Hi keanegiga,

Would suggest you to reset text tool > relaunch Photoshop and then, check.

Refer this article for tool reset: http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/2012/07/photoshop-basic-troubleshooting-steps-to-fix-most-issues.html#tool

Is it possible to hear an answer? This is the most stupid error, I cant use my Illustrator when I can't resize a textbox. There is an mysterious answer about photoshop, but an answer about illustrator is missing. I really dont like to pay for something that does not work. Please do something! And not tomorrow - we are people who pays for this crap!

I'm having this issue too and it's driving me crazy. I've tried resetting text tool, relaunching program, zooming in and out like mentioned above and nothing seems to work.

Tips?

I just purchased Illustrator so it's frustrating to stumble upon a bug the first day I'm using it

I too am having this problem -- maybe a clue to the bug is that it happens with my pre-existing files, made before 21.1.0 (2017)

this glitch makes it impossible to edit and resize text boxes. (They are all of course to be area type.)

Same problem here. Resetting the tool does not do anything, only zooming out somehow makes it work.

I too am having this issue, the >66% trick is working but wtf, why did this happen at all and when can we get a fix?

I have the same issue. Resetting the text tool doesn't help.

Quick update. I zoomed out and it seems this bug only affects me when the zoom level is at 75%. At other zoom levels, the text box works as it should.

No edit function? I wrote 75%, but it should say 66.7%.

I have a very similar issue, which I haven't experienced before the latest update. I can resize using the boxes on the same side of the alignment of the text, but clicking on the opposite side only deselects the box.

In the example below, the text is aligned left in the box. If I click anywhere to the right of the red arrow, the box is deselected. The cursor appears as expected (text cursor inside the box, resize arrows on the border), but clicking just deselects.

If the text is set to align right, the problem reverses; I can't resize using the left boxes because any clicks to the left of a certain point deselect the box. When the text is centered, the text box behaves normally.

The problem doesn't happen with all text boxes, and I haven't been able to force it to appear in a new box since yesterday, but it does remain in the text box I provided as an example above.

I've reset the text tool, relaunched PS and restarted my computer. Maybe it was just a glitch, but I'd like to know how to fix or avoid it for the future. It's quite annoying when it happens.

Hi

Seem related to [ X ] Auto Select:, while using the Move tool.

You kinda need to use one of the control ( 8 square boxes ) for resizing.

But I see you are using the Text Tool, and I don't seem to reproduce your problem.
