Buying a PC for photoshop in 2024

My PC is only 3 years old but can not cope with the current version of Photoshop (I am running Beta). The AI tools have defeated it and it goes painfully slowly.

The question is what specification should I be looking for to buy a PC mainly for Photoshop in 2024?

I have always used Windows but could be persuaded to go Mac if there are definite benefits

Get a desktop, not a laptop.

Laptops generally have layers of vendor modifications between the application and drivers and the operating system. That can potentially cause problems in Photoshop. Especially dual graphics, which is nearly always a problem.

The safest is to build a machine, whether you do it yourself or get someone to do it. That way you get a stripped down and basic Windows installation, and a very reliable machine.

And finally, yes, an RTX 30- or 40-series GPU is pretty much baseline standard nowadays. 3060, 3070, 4060, 4070, they all perform very well with Photoshop.

What are the specs for your PC? Is it a desktop? If so, adding a powerful GPU like the nVidia RTX 3070ti would give it a big boost for AI.
