The BW adjustment layer  is missing two sliders that ACR has: why?

With ACR, there is no way to mask what you dont want like you can with an adjustment layer correct?

    Hi Larry,

I believe you're referring to the HSL panel available in Camera Raw, the black & white adjustment layer only has sliders for RGB and CMYK color modes. However, the Hue Saturation Luminance Panel available in camera raw does not work on the monochromatic properties of the image. It works on the colors appearing in the image that is why it has two sliders for Orange and Aqua.

You can use Adjustment Brush in the camera raw plugin which works like masking does. Please have a look at this article to know more: Make local adjustments in Adobe Camera Raw

Thanks Sahil, I did not understand this, what mean? "However, the Hue Saturation Luminance Panel available in camera raw does not work on the monochromatic properties of the image. It works on the colors appearing in the image that is why it has two sliders for Orange and Aqua."

I like the Orange slider, it seems to bring back midtones, after I make the rest of the image too dark.

The brush articles was so long... What section there talks about just painting back in lighter or darker?

I understand what you said, and I really want to know the same thing, but I will put this in other words.

Why the Adobe Camera Raw BW convertion has orange and purple sliders, while in Photoshop the BW adjustment layer filter hasn't this two colors control.
