Camera Raw 9

I am currently running Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 6. I would like to download Camera Raw 9.x for my Photoshop CS6 as this is the recommended most recent version for opening Lightroom images in Photoshop. However, I understand that this is not possible and that to add full Lightroom 6 functionality I need Photoshop CC.

Before I upgrade to Photoshop CC, I would be very grateful to please know:

1. Is this correct?

2. What are the differences between Camera Raw 9 and Camera Raw 7 (the current version with my Photoshop CS6)?

3. What Lightroom 6 functionality is lost in Photoshop CS6 (as opposed to Photoshop CC)?

Thank you.

ACR 9.1.1 is the latest version of ACR that works in CS6 newer versions of ACR can not be installed in CS6.  Also in CS6 ACR 9.1.1 newer features are disabled.  CS6 only received support  for the newer Camera RAW formats that ACR 9.1.1 supported.

To have the full benefit of Lightroom / Photoshop integration, Lightroom and ACR need to be in version sync. That's more important than any specific version numbering.

In your case, with Photoshop CS6, you can only go up to ACR 9.1. The corresponding Lightroom version is 6.1. However, I'm still not certain that downgrading Lightroom to 6.1 would be enough, because some of the added Lightroom features are disabled in the corresponding ACR version available for Photoshop CS6.

The only way to be certain that Lightroom and Photoshop will work seamlessly together, is to be on a CC subscription for both.
