Camera Raw; density grayed out for Eraser Adjustment Brush tool??

I'm using the Adjustment brush in Camera Raw for the first time, there is suppose to be a density slider for both the brush and the eraser tool, I have the slider but it is grayed out.  Can anyone help?

That is normal in erase mode. It should only be available in New/Add mode
