Question

Can an old Creative Suite licence be transferred to CC products or: how to open video in PS2022

Once upon a time not too long ago I obtained the licence key to the complete Adobe Createive Suit 6 Productopn Premium kit. It still runs on my very old MacPro, in High Sierra. However, recently I had to start working with a new Mac, because the MacPro was starting to become slower and slower. This is fair enough: I bought it second hand and it has been working without issues for 7 years now. I spent a lot of money on Adobe products. The focus of my work is on Photoshop so I now have a subscription to that product. But I have to do some video editing and I wish I would still use Premier Pro. I can, on the old slow machine. But it no longer works nor installs on the new one.

Here is my question: can my old licence be transferred to the newer line of products that do run on Big Sur or higher?

Related:

when I installed my Adobe product on the new machine and read some tutorials, it says I should be able to open a video in Photoshop. It does not work. Any video file is greyed out. I cannot open it. The only reason I want to open it in Photoshop is to fiddle with the low quality of one particular video. Has anyone got this working in a setup like mine? MacMini, Big Sur, PS 2022.

The licence question arose because I figured that I could open the video file in my old Photoshop but now that does not work anymore either.... "Could not complete your request because the video file could not be opened". This was a .mov file from an iPhone. Did not work as .mp4 either. None of those work. There are tutorials online that tell me that it should be possible.

Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks!

No, in addition to CS6 not being able to run on Big Sur and higher, the licenses for Creative Suite do not transfer to Creative Cloud, as Creative Cloud is subscription only.

Another idea for movie editing is to use Premiere Elements. It's a standalone application (not subscription) and is on sale through January 3. You can get a free trial first to see if it will work for you:
