Can I use a normal HD graphics tablet with a 4k monitor?

I've never really used a display graphics tablet before. I've just got a basic graphics tablet (offbrand equivalent of the Intuos medium). I will be working on an iMac with a 4k monitor. Is it possible to use a 1920x1080 resolution graphics tablet without having to change the resolution on my main display? I was thinking if I set up everything as dual monitors I should be able to have different resolutions, but that's just an assumption, and I hate to make an assumption that expensive lol. Thanks for any help I can get.

It will probably work, because usually the tablet area gets scaled to the display area by default. It's unlikely that you'll have to change the display resolution. But since I've only used Wacom tablets, you'll have to find out if that assumption is true for your brand of tablet. If your tablet comes with software that lets you make adjustments, you'll want to look in there. If it has scaling options, just make sure it's set to scale the tablet area to the entire display area, if that's what you want.
