Can't disable the home screen

I've gone into Preferences - General and unchecked the button to show the home screen. I've tried closing and opening and rechecking and unchecking.

How do I disable this screen?

I've been going back and forth with this and it's just now taken the change. Solved, though I'm not sure how.

In Photoshop 2020 in your preferences un-check auto show the home screen.

Then in Photoshop UI click on the Home screen PS to toggle it off.

It will stay off till you toggle it back on Using the Home button in the Tool option bar.
