can't edit my pdf

I am a beginner to photoshop - I want to make amendments to my sample pdf book that my illustrator has sent me but i cannot do this. Has this got something  to do with me using a iMac?

Im really stuck - I'm seriously really bad at this stuff

Help!!!!

    If you are using the full creative cloud, install acrobat. It can edit your pdf.

    It has been asking me to instal cloud or whatever that is, but i assumed as I'm only using my iMac and no other devises i don't need this?

    I just want to edit any pdfs on my iMac and then save and send to my printer.

    You cannot edit flattened PDFs in Photoshop.  And most likely, your illustrator used other software to create the project and then exported it to a PDF at the end.
