Can't get Clipping Mask to work on Photoshop 23.0.2 Mac

Ive used clipping masks for years but just downloaded the Photoshop paid subscription after using PS6 forever. I cant get the clipping mask to work and Im baffled. I have attached my screen captures. Using imac and Photoshop 23.0.2  Would love someone to help....I'll buy you a beer.

Looks like the layer with the Grey fill you want the image clipped to has no transparency around the grey area.

 

In other words, layer 5 with the grey fill  is also on white so the clipping mask doesn't work because your clipping to a layer that is bigger than your image.

You seen to have are rendering problem try deactivete Photoshop new support. In your preferences disable native canvas. Native canvas seems be work on my machine is you your GPU suppotred? Good looking family. All boys  We have two boys and two girl all adults now.

Post a screen capture of the problem include the layer pallet in the screen capture.

Can you describe in more detail what it is you're trying to achieve
