Can't get CS4 to open camera raw files in windows 10

I have CS4 on my old vista machine and have no problem reading canon CS2 files from my 7D.
However, when I installed it onto my windows 10 laptop I can't get it to open CS2 files, I've downloaded tha latest cameraraw from the adobe sie but to no avail, so I copied the cameraraw file from my old machine itno the same folder (file formats) on the windows 10 machine, still doesn't work, so I copied it into both the relevant folders in program file and program file(x86), still doesn't work.
Any ideas?

What is the exact ACR version on the new istallation and please don’t try to use terms like »latest«? 

 

Using the free DNG Converter would be an alternative.

And you may count it as a lucky coincidence that Photoshop CS4 works on Windows 10 at all:

Hi, I finally managed to find the adobe page with the correct camera raw version, so the problem is now fixed.
I also downloaded the DNG app so shouldn't have problems with any other cameras I own.
