Question

Can't initially save files a .jpg or .png

I've been using photoshop for forever. I just got a new computer and installed the newest version of phosothosp, and now when I go to save a file, it only has .psd, .psb, .pdf, and .tif as options.

In the past, saving a file would give me like 15 options of files to save. I finally just figured out that if I right-click and merge all the layers that it will give me the option to save as a .jpg, png, and all the original options I'm used to having.

Is there a setting I can change to fix it so it works like it's always worked for the last 15+ years I've been using it?

I know it's not the end of the world but it's bothered me enough to take the time to create a post about it.

In the latest version of Photoshop, file formats that do not directly support all the options in your document (such as bit depth, layers etc) appear in Save a Copy. If you want them to appear in the Save As menu, as before, go to Preferences >File Handling and check Enable legacy "Save As"

"Downloading previous version"

Why? Just do what I suggested and enable legacy Save As
