Can't open any psd files - Problems were encountered reading layers because of a program error

Hello, I can't open a single PSD file from any folder. I can open a png file but I can't make any changes or save the file afterwards. I have deadlines and I can't accomplish any work.  What is going on?

Mac, Catalina 10.15.4

Please help?

These are the two messages that appear:

Problems were encountered reading layers “xxxxxxx" because of a program error. Some layers will use existing pixel data. Continue?

I click yes, then:

Could not apply the workspace because of a program error.

Thank you,

Hi there,

Sorry that you're getting multiple errors while trying to open PSD's in Photoshop on your Mac running macOS Catalina 10.15.4.

Which version of Photoshop are you using?

Could you please try resetting the preferences of Photoshop and let us know if it helps?

To restore preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut: Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop.

Also, make sure that you back up all your custom presets, brushes & actions before restoring Photoshop's preferences. https://helpx.adobe.com/in/photoshop/using/preset-migration.html

Thanks,
