Can't open .CR2 file in Photoshop

I'm trying to open a .CR2 file in Photoshop 2020, but when I try to do so I get a message saying "Could not open “IMG_4790.CR2” because of a disk error". I can open the file in Lightroom and then open the image into Photoshop from there, so I'm confused as to why I can't open it in Photoshop directly. I have multiple photos to edit on a strict timeline, and opening it through Lightroom is too time-consuming. Please let me know if you know what is going on, thank you!!

What operating system and where are the files stored?

Mac and they're stored on a server. I'm just confused why my colleague can open it fine and I cant even though all my systems are up to date

Are you on Catalina? If so, that's the problem. Adobe CC is having major problems with Catalina and especially servers. Adobe doesn't support working off a server anyway.

Make sure Photoshop and camera raw are updated.

They are both updated. My colleague is able to open the files on his computer so it has to be an issue with mine?
