Question

Can't remove matte, no levels...

Hello,

I have been having a problem that just started yesterday.

I open a pdf document, I type some text, I rasterize a duplicate of the text layer, with that layer selected, I go to remove black matte, it does nothing. The matting option is not greyed out. I can go and select remove black matte, but nothing happens.  Also under image>adjustments>levels, it is just empty now, I can't really change anything in there because there isn't any levels. Also if I go to add noise, it will add it on the inside of the text instead of on the outside like it did before. I don't know what has happened.

There isn't anything else selected either.

I paid for and downloaded the photoshop package to check if I had done something to my old copy of photoshop and it's the same thing.

Anyone know what the problem is? I have been trying to google, but not sure what to google at all.

Thanks

To begin with: What would be the point of removing black matte on a rasterized type layer?

As @Bojan Živković11378569 already requested please post meaningful screenshots to clarify what you are talking about.

Can you post some screenshots with Layers panel visible to illustrate issues?

"Also if I go to add noise, it will add it on the inside of the text instead of on the outside like it did before. I don't know what has happened."

We can not see situation in the Layers panel so we can not tell you what is going on exactly. If you have rasterized text surrounded by opacity on that layer then do not expect noise around text, it will be applied to pixels on layer. Please post screenshot with Layers panel and Add Noise dialogue visible.
