Can't resize text layer, keep getting message about path

Hi, I am sure this is something simple, I am trying to resize a text layer, as I've done a thousand times and can't.  There's no option "transform layer" option in the edit panel, the option in place is "transform path".  When I select that I get this message: "Could not transform the path because the selected portion of the path does not enclose any pixels."

Can someone give me some guidance please on how to switch this back?

Thanks

Thanks I checked that panel and it is empty so it's not that.  The good news is that it is gone and my edit options are back to normal.

    Thanks all for the replies

Glad to hear it, sorry couldn't figure out the problem.

Could you please post a screenshot taken at View > 100% and with the pertinent Panels (Layers, Paths, Options Bar, …) visible?

I can't see it here, but take a look at your path panel. If there is accidentally a path that has been made, then that will always be what Photoshop will first try to transform. If you don't need the path, trash it. If you do, just make sure that the path layer isn't selected.
