Can't select text in 2020 Adobe Photoshop

Since updating to 2020 Photoshop, I cannot select text.  This is a huge problem and needs to be fixed please.  I checked your forum and there is a workaround of turning OFF the Graphics Processor in Preferences... Performance... Use Graphics Processor.  BUT, the text highlighting is now really jumpy, and of course, the Graphics Processor is turned off, which doesn't work so well.
