Cannot auto select layers in Photoshop

Hi Guys

I have latest PS but when I got it i could select and go through layers by clicking on the image without going into the layer menu just like AI, but somehow I managed to disable this function, I have no idea what the name of the function is or where I can find out how to turn it back on.

Can anyone help with this

    Hi Jay,

    As you're not able to select the layer by clicking on the object, please make sure that you have "Auto Select" checked while the Move Tool is active.

      Expanding on what Sahil has already said, you can temporarily reverse the Auto-Select option by holding down the Command key on a Mac or the Control key on Windows while using the Move tool. This allows you to generally use one setting but quickly reverse the behaviour in specific situations.
