Question

Cannot save frame animation as a gif

Hi,

I'm working in Photoshop CC 2015 on a mac and have created an animated file with frame animation. I cannot save it as a gif however??

When I go to the 'Save for Web (Legacy) menu option all seems fine, I have gif selected top right but when the save as window pops up I only have 3 options: html only, images only, and html and images.

Where am I going wrong or is it the photoshop version I'm using?

Thanks

Just wondering how you solved this issue? I've been exporting animated GIFs for years using "Save for WEb (Legacy) with no issues. Suddenly I'm running into this problem. Only html only, images only, and html and images as my options. No matter what I don't get an animated GIF file. Only separate images or an html file.

Did you figure out a solution to this?  I'm having the same issue - and I've followed all the tutorials and guidance.

One work-around is to use »Save for Web«’s »Preview« and save the gif from the browser.

Then I suggest that you google for a tutorial on have to animate the two seperate images. I remember that it is fairly simply actually 🙂

If you want to save as a GIF image, chose Images Only (should be the default option). In fact I have never needed to use HTML options there in my entire life 😉

Thanks, that does save it as a gif file but they are two seperate images not an animated gif

You only have two frames in your "animation". Open the Timeline panel and for example add a tween between the frames (or add a delay to frames) before exporting to GIF.

Please post meaningful screenshots, in particular of the SfW-dialog.
