I have always used auto save, and i have the settings on correctly and its always worked. Yesterday i had a big commission i was working on in photoshop and today i clicked on it to access it. It then said it was deleted or not found and disappeared from my recents. Cannot find it in recycling, my computer, my one drive or anywhere else. I had saved it to my PC already and have saved it on regular increments manually as well. Can anyone please help me

Hi @procion34251244tbge I'm no Win expert but can you perhaps revert to an earlier Windows restore point? If you EVER saved the file I guess it might be there?

I hope this helps

I wish everyone would stop calling it auto-save, which it isn't. It's auto-recovery. Nothing is saved if the machine doesn't crash.

I also wish people would stop relying on the Home screen, but that's probably too much to hope for. The Home screen is not a file manager, it does not have a direct connection to the file. It's just a dead pointer to a certain disk location, whether there's something there or not. The Home screen is a convenience feature to let you quickly pick up where you left off before lunch. That's all it should ever be used for.

What format did you save it as?

How much storage do you have?

If the amount of storage is managable (i.e. you are not using a server with umpteen terabytes of data) and you know the format (to keep it manable) then this might work.

Select root: C:\ if you have just one drive, or This PC if you have multiple drives.

In the seach bar use:

* type: = .psd

Use the View drop down anbd select Details  and click Date Modified

Click on the Date Modified tab to open the date range window, and select a date range that will definitely encompass the time you saved the lost file.

If your date range is not too wide, you'll hopefully have a small enough list that you easilty find the file yopu are looking for.

Even if the format is something very common like .JPG

Good luck.

I assume you have checked the Recycle Bin?
