Question

Ceiling Lights Blowing out Wood Grain?

Shot a lovely kitchen, bracketed HDR with flash, but on all the brackets the ceiling LED's have left a blow out on wood cupboard.

What is the best method here, anything I try does not work, well.

Clone stamp, colour adjustment layer, content fill..

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Overall, I don't think it's that bad, lesson learned, check all areas of image, look for blow outs and ask have you got the main features without errors. I think overall the image is just passable.

Shame I could not nail it but to be honest maybe it's the little bit of real lide it needed.

This is a raw image so have you tried camera raw and the highlight slider?

I have not, but this was a Canon CR2 from Lightroom, tweaked, then opened as layers into Photoshop..... Then would be saved back into lightroom. Would that still work?

Think I need to just accept I should have been checking on site and seen the highlights and acted accordingly. Anything I do looks cra*/

Thanks for help guys, this one is a wrap.

Too late for this image, but the next time take a shot with the overhead lights off, and use that image to blend out any hot spots in the lights-on image.

Hi @Kanokane,

Is this the on-camera flash? Consider using soft boxes and reflected light in future. Results are way more pleasing.

On the retouc, you've prestty much got it.

Clone, healing ttols, and Content aware fill should have you on your way.

Let us know how you go.

Hi, no these lights are from those spot lights..

For this particular bracket set I did not even do a flash shot, for flash shots I always bounce flashes either from ceiling or for some dramatic effects off a wall.

I will play more with these tools and see what I can do.

Like i said, I have tried cloning, and taking the flow down to help blend, but can't seem to make it look good, too many little complex edges.. Do I just have to accept that those highlights are not removable?
