Change canvas size without resizing content?

I am creating an info graphic and need more space to type information, however, when I try to resize the canvas it just expands all the layers along with it. Is there a way to expand the canvas so that it just adds additional white space that I can then fill how I need to?

Ah, you didn't mention you were using artboards. In that case use the artboard tool which shares the same location in the toolbar as the move tool.

When using artboards the canvas is irrelevant as it automatically expands to encompass all artboards.

Remember that the Crop tool can also enlarge the Canvas and not the image.

Drag out a larger work area

It appears to be resizing in some way, but when I go into the file the art board is the same size so I can't make use of any of the "phantom canvas"

One way to resize the Artboard is to use the options panel

Hey Dave, I have been using canvas size so I don't think that is the issue!
