Cinemagraph export not working "Unknown error"

Hey,

When exporting a cinemagraph from photoshop I get a message saying " Could not complete this operation. An unknown error has occurred." Any online searching to solve the problem suggests that there is not enough ram....and usually the person as 8gb. I have 16gb but admittedly on a slightly old MacBook Pro (late 2013 - the model before apple decided no body need useful ports). Basically, it runs the video slowly when going through the process of masking etc. Then I'm doing File >> Export Save for web (Legacy) >> and when the window opens for the settings I am doing:

Preset: Unnamed

GIF/Selective/Diffusion - transparancy is ticked - No transparancy Dither - I've tried both Covert to sRGB and not, and I've set the size down at anything from w500 to w1280 and it doesn't matter which I do it, thinks about it for a while, spinning wheel, and then the error message flashes up. I also tried increasing the amount of RAM that photoshop was allowed to access and it made no difference in handling. Normally I would chalk it up to an old computer, but it handles video perfectly well in other programmes so I don't understand why it wouldn't in adobe photoshop.

The file im using is:

MPEG -4 Movie

163mb [ BUT, I have tried cutting it down to just the loop required which made it 11mb and same thing happens]

Dim: 3840x2160

Codecs: Linea PCM, H264

The computer I'm using is:

Mac Book Pro

2.3 Quad core Intel Core i7

16 GB 1600 DDR3 Ram

Intel Iris Pro 1536 Graphics

Hi

OK 187 frames is high but not excessive (I've heard of issues with over 500 frames).

You could try using Render video and exporting the video as an image sequence to png. Then re-import the image sequence as layers and set up layers to frames to create a frame animation which you can then export as a GIF. A bit convoluted, but it may get around the error.

Thank you will try and see how that goes - does anybody know what the actual cause of it is though?

I'm guessing the file size (pixel dimensions) is way too large for exporting as a GIF format.

How many frames are there in the GIF you are trying to export?

See below Dave - I guess the frame number is the 55 out of 187 number at the bottom right?
