I cannot afford a Rolls Royce or a yacht and I'm mad about it.

Adobe does not hold a monopoly on a vital resource or even image editing software (despite what some people have kept claiming while blithely ignoring the facts) so it is not required to provide its services at the price all potential customers want or can afford. 

As @Ged_Traynor mentioned there are free alternatives to Photoshop, but perpetual license-options also exist and some are supposedly pretty good and offer, in certain (but not all) aspects, improvements on Photoshop’s functionality.
