Clone Tool lag with wacom but not after a reset preferences...

Hi everyone,

I know this is a recurring topic and that there are many different situations depending on the configuration but the solution I found drives me crazy!

1/ The clone tool lags to death when I use my wacom intuos pro tablet.
2/ If I use the clone tool with my mouse, everything is fine.
3/ If I use the brush tool or the eraser tool with my tablet, everything is fine.
4/ If I activate the "reset preferences on quit" option in the settings, the clone tool will work normally with my tablet for the next photoshop session !!!!

I left the "windows ink" option activated in the tablet options (driver version 6.3.46-2), windows 10 (version 21h2), dual RTX 3070 graphics cards and photoshop 23.5.2.

Does anyone have an alternative idea instead of resetting the preferences of photoshop every time you want to work?

Thanking you very much in advance if you have any ideas!

Thanks a lot Chad !! You saved my sanity !

I deleted the "PSUserConfig.txt" file and it works for now!

What is the purpose of this variable "UseSystemStylus 0" ?

It's not part of the files who get reset when i activate the option "reset preferences on quit" ?

Again, thanks a lot !

Hi @Icone 02 Do you see this issue with the latest release (24.0.1)?

Also, looking at your Prefs, you are using WinTab (i.e. PSUserConfig.txt has UseSystemStylus 0).  If you are using that, you should uncheck Use Windows Ink in your Wacom Tablet Properties (Calibrate tab).

Conversely, you can try to enable that (Use Windows Ink) and remove the PSUserConfig.txt file, relaunch Photoshop and see if that helps.
One last thing, current Wacom drivers are up to 6.40.0-8 so you can also try updating those.
Let us know if any of those help.

Hi Jeffrey,

Did you have time to take a look to the files ?

Is there a clue of anything explaining this lag behavior ?

Can you post a copy of the Photoshop Settings folder when you're getting a lag, and a copy of it when you're not getting a lag? Post a URL to the file using CC files or dropbox, or something similar to share the file.
