CMD + Delete (or ALT + Delete) not changing text color?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think this was possible in other versions of Photoshop...

When I have a text layer selected and I hit, on a Mac, CMD + Delete or ALT + Delete, the text doesn't change the color.

Wasn't this a thing in other versions or am I just dreaming?
