Question

Color profiles setting in Photoshop

Hi I'm new here, most of the time I was using Photoshop to edit my iPhone photos.

What I usually do is edit straight away from iPhone photo library, click edit with "Photoshop"

After edited my photos, click Save As JPEG, and replace the original image on iPhone

However, the new edited photo looks duller and less bright compared to the original image (before edited), I wonder how to fix this issue, was it because of my color profile setting? Which color profiles am I supposed to use?

Thank you

It's really hard to say what could be causing the images to be dull and less bright. It could be due to the quality you are saving at or any number of changes you are making to correction. Could you walk us through what you do to edit your photos? For instance, what options are you clicking on to edit them? What types of edits/corrections are you making?

Also as a side note, if you are just making simple edits or repeated corrections, you might also want to consider Lightroom instead of Photoshop. It could give you a more streamlined workflow as opposed to coming back to Photoshop to do small photo corrections.

Ok maybe I wasn't clear enough, apologize for that. So it started like this, in the Photos app on my Macbook, select a photo, right-click "Edit with Photoshop", and make some tweak on my photo like Blur, Sharpen, Clone Stamp, etc , and then once I have done all these editings, clicked Save, and then the photo in the Photos app will be updated immediately.

After edited, the color of the photo has changed, it's hard to explain but you can see the images I attached here, as in before and after. I just wonder what can I do to keep the color looks the exactly the same.

What you saved are the PNG screenshots of your images, not the images themselves. If you still have that one bright and one not, can you record a quick loom when you edit the brighter one to show us what you are clicking on that is resulting in the dull image? We don't have a lot to go on to make a determination without knowing more about what you are clicking on, or how you are exporting (save as, save a copy, export as, etc.) as there are many factors that could cause an image to go dull like you are seeing. But it's possible if you are not saving at full quality or using some sort of auto filter on the curves/levels/etc. that you are ending up with this image.

What do you mean by "edit with Photoshop straight from iPhone photo library"? I have no idea what that means or what applications you're using.

Generally, this happens when an image is saved without an embedded color profile (icc profile). Or that the viewing application doesn't support color management and icc profiles.
