Color replacement tool - full color mode (Photoshop)

in Photoshop - We are having trouble using the Color replacement tool because it says that it only works in full color mode. But we are working in full color mode (RGB) but still does not work. 

any ideas?

    Hi There,

    As the Color Replacement tool is not working, would you mind sharing a screen shot of Photoshop's user interface with us?

    Also, are you working in 8 Bit mode? You can check that by going to Image > Image Mode 


    What version of Photoshop and the Operating System you're working with?

    We are in PS 2019, I can send a screen shot when we are back in the classroom. 

    I can also check the mode - but I believe it is 8 bit. 

    We are on Windows 10. 

    The error message we get is that it only works in full color mode.. 

    but when I looked how to change it to full color mode, is says switch to RGB, which we are already in.
