Question

Colors are all shades of pink, while my selection is always gray-scale

Sorry if the terms I use are not correct, I am new with Photoshop. I have been using it for a month now and suddenly whenever I select a color, any color, Photoshop thinks that I have chosen something in black and white. But the very strange thing is that when I add the color with brush or paint-bucket, it always comes out in various shades of pink. I have absolutely no idea how to fix it, I don't want gray scale and I don't want these weird pinks.

    Image>Mode then choose RGB.

The other cause is accidently clicking the mask thumbnail in the layers panel. Just click the image thumbnail in the layer.

As for the pink color it sounds like your monitor is not calibrated. The grey is leaning towards red giving the pink shade.

Hello, I had a similar problem today - when using the brush tool to paint, I was using eyedropper to select colors from Swatches. I must have accidentally turned on Mask button on the left panel. All my brush colors turned various shades of pink when I applied them to the canvas. I turned Mask mode off, but now I can't get the brush to work at all (no color comes out when I use brush tool on the appropriate, unlocked layer). Any advice please? Thanks.
