Question

• Colors are changing when "freen transform" is applied…

Hello -

We received a PSD file from another agency.

Apparently, they don't care too much about mixing RGB/CMYK "smart object", embed profile or not, using at the same time corrections layers in the RGB smart object and after applying some extra corrections layers in the CMYK final file, etc…

The result is when we try to apply a "free transform", well the colors change!

Does anyone have an idea why.

And how could we avoid it?

Thank you, enjoy your day.

Hello

Thank you for your quick reply.

I realyly do appareciate  :-)

Now, we are so in a rush here, that I had to find a quick and dirty way to find a "trick".

Plus the fact the files are still confidential  ;-)

The quick and dirty way is to make a smart object of the smart object…

Really not the best way, but apparently it works.

Thank you again.

A viable solution if you didn’t need to increase the object’s size.

Could you determine which part didn’t have their profile embedded – the Smart Object, the containing image or both?

And please set the Status Bar to »Document Profile« before making the screenshots.

Quite likely the SO and/or the containing document do not have its Profile embedded and the other company uses other Working Spaces than you.

So when the RGB Smart Object’s instance/s get recalculated after being transformed Photoshop has to use your current Working Space/s.

It’s basically the same issue you would have if you got sent an unprofiled image and the Working Space the sender used and yours differ.

Edit: One can try to guess the original profiles, assign them to the affected files and see if the change persists.

If it does then one may have to try others yet …

Please give a more meaningful description.

Best provide the file itself or at least meaningful screenshots including all pertinent Panels and Bars (Layers, Channels, Options, …).

Is the containing file CMYK and the Smart Object RGB?

What are the images’ Color Spaces and are the profiles embedded?

What exactly do you mean by »corrections layers«?
