Colour profile : ISO 12647-2:2014 (FOGRA 391)

Hello,

I'm working on a project where the client has stated that their printer has the colour profile ISO 12647-2:2014 (FOGRA 391). I can't find it on photoshop and I can't see any downloads from the ECI website. Does anyone know if I can use the older colour profile version or if there's a profile which will be compatible?

Thanks in advance!

@Stephen Marsh is right,

there is no FOGRA391 characterisation data, the info you have probably refers to FOGRA39L (that’s an L not a 1)

The FOGRA 39L data set characterises a sheet few press on good coated paper.

Adobe do have a FOGRA 39L based CMYK profile installed as default, but it has lower black generation compared to the ECI original - made by the German and Swiss guys who did the characterisation press runs.

- I suggest you download the ISOcoated_v2_eci.icc profile

(or, as Stephen suggested, maybe use the 300 TAC version which was especially made for UK web magazines),

the original has, I believe 320 TAC

(ISOcoated_v2_eci.icc is an ICC CMYK press profile made using the FOGRA 39 characterisation data - made by colour guru Florian Sussl for the ECI).

basICColor have a version available too

-ISOcoated_v2_eci.iccis in this zip download bundle

if you need a SIT file, rather than ZIP, go here

I hope this helps

Good point Neil, and great post!

Fogra39: 1485 sets/patches

Fogra39L(arge): 1617 sets/patches

I like the GCR version for images that favour neutral/gray colour content:

That's a typo, it is not 391!

It is Fogra39 and standard in Photoshop, the ISO Coated v2 profiles on the ECI site are created from the same measurement data. To play it safe, I'd go with a 300% total ink limit version.
