Question

Computer is very slow while running multiple Adobe products.

Hi folks,

I have been a designer for over 20 years, commercial print shops + small business. No stranger to Adobe products. With my latest computer build, I am unable to run more than one Adobe app. without the computer slowing to a crawl. The computer works great for every other app I run multi-tasking. I am used to having Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign running simultaneously without lag. This computer on paper is a beast compared to my old system, so I can't understand why this is happening.

Let me know what you need to help identify the issue, this is the first time I have run into this problem.

@9447789 besides Chrome being a resource hog?

It's not Google Chrome. Even if I am not running Chrome, the issue remains.

Hi @elbmagw Go to Photoshop Help Menu/System Info and copy/paste details in a reply. Post only once as the system takes time to process the large amount of data.

First guess out of the gate is obv a lack of resources - either a slow CPU or underpowered GPU. The system info will help point out any issues.

We were looking at how Photoshop hangs on to memory a few days ago. Even using Purge did not release memory, and I had to close Photoshop to get it under control. Without knowing how you work we have to guess, but have a look at Task Manager > Performance tab.

You can also use Resource Monitor to get an idea of where any bottlenecks might be

Can you tell us a bit more about your system hardware? What are your Scratch disk arrangements? You are going to have significant temp files using multiple apps, and how quickly they can be accessed is going to impact performance.

I have an i9-13900K, RTX4080 and 64Gb ram, and currently have Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Bridge, and Character Animator open, and everything feels snappy with no wait states.
